Transaction reporting consultation closes

For investment firms, trading venues, approved reporting mechanisms and other firms that submit transaction reports. The FCA proposes guidance and transition arrangements for new rules that come into force on 3 April 2028. This is a deadline for consultation responses.

Why it matters Reporting teams can compare their data mappings and transition plans with the drafts and raise unclear scenarios before the consultation closes.

FCA/PRA · Application date

UK cryptoasset firms should apply

For firms that intend to continue cryptoasset activities in the UK. The FCA asks them to apply by 28 February 2027, ahead of the regime starting on 25 October 2027. Authorisation is not automatic.

Why it matters Applying early leaves time to show the FCA that your firm meets its standards before the regime starts.

AML · General application date

EU AML Regulation applies

For obliged entities covered by Regulation (EU) 2024/1624. Football clubs and agents have a later application date, 10 July 2029.

Why it matters A directly applicable EU framework brings customer due diligence, beneficial ownership and internal controls under a more consistent set of requirements.

UK cryptoasset regime starts

For activities within the UK’s new cryptoasset regulatory perimeter. The FCA’s perimeter guidance explains which activities may require authorisation.

Why it matters This is the regime’s commencement date, distinct from the earlier opening of authorisation applications.
